at "mad money." that's why tonight i want to give a big round of applause to marisa mayerr, the new ceo of yahoo! who took the helm in july and gave birth to a baby boy just last night. congratulations on becoming a parent and just as an aside, as a father of two girls, i think it's wonderful that we live in a world where the female ceo of a fortune 500 company can have a baby and take a well deserved maternity leave. but this is "mad money," not mad maternity. when i said she deserves a round of applause i was talking about what she's doing for her other baby, which is yahoo!. that's because yahoo! never recovered from the crash of 2008. it looks like it's finally worth buying. yahoo! is one of the best-known internet brands on earth. i use it all the time. but the company has suffered from years of mismanagement and undermanagement, which is why the stock has been flatlining for the last three years. just stuck trading around the same $15 or $16 range where it is right now. fabulous stock to sell calls against. the dilemma with yahoo! has been that the company has real value as it own

confidence in marisa mayer's ability to turn this company around? >> well, i think meg whitman set the stage that turn arounds take a while. but marissa's got strong technical chops. and you mentioned monetizing mobile. this is a big experiment in the tech industry. everybody's a 2.0 company now whether they want to be or not. google, microsoft, even amazon is going to have to deal with mobile sooner versus later. so it's jump ball. and she's going to enter the court strongly with everybody else. >> and would you say she's got a fairly even playing field compared to everybody else? because nobody else seems to really make it happen yet? >> i think she's got a lot of strong cards to play. she's got a lot of cash, so she can do acquisitions. if you've noticed, most of the growth in mobile has come from acquisitions by companies like facebook, for example. she also has ad platforms, in the pc area, she understands ad networks and she'll have to figure that out on mobile. and she understands content, they've monetized it before, they'll have to monetize it differently before. she's got all the i

morning. >> reporter: good morning. a big week ahead in silicon valley. yahoo's ceo marisa meyer this afternoon will make her first public appearance as the company's ceo when they release their earnings for the 3rd quarter. the 3rd quarter itself probably not all that great for yahoo. frankly most analysts not focused on that. instead, they want to know what meyer has to say about her vision for yahoo. the company's been struggling for years. what is she going to do that others haven't been able to do in turning yahoo around? obviously there are pressures on global advertising when it comes to the internet. we saw that with google last week so more pressure for yahoo there. as far as apple is concerned they are expected to unveil the ipad mini at an event tomorrow. a lot of anticipation on that. somewhere between 299 and $349 probably. wall street coming off an absolute beatdown on friday off earnings worries. dow down more than 200. market off to a mixed start this morning. dow giving up 33. nasdaq up 4. s&p right now down 2. apple rebounding after a very rough week. its shares
